A Very Sore Toe

Jessie, a 5 year old Golden Retriever, woke up the other morning with a VERY sore front foot.

His owners brought him in to Pittwater Animal Hospital to see Dr Heidi Furber but it was so sore that the foot was difficult to examine.  Jesse needed strong pain relief and a sedative so we could clip and examine the toe.

After the hair was removed we could see that the toe was really bruised.

While Jessie was still sedated we carried him into our Xray room to get some images.  You can see from the picture below that the toe was broken.  Jesse will have a supportive bandage for 4-6 weeks and lots of pain relief. It is going to be very sore but we are hoping we can make him feel better.
