Pittwater Animal Hospital is often asked about work experience, student placement and voluntary work. We do not take volunteers but we do take veterinary and veterinary nurse students through the year.

1: Veterinary Students

Pittwater Animal Hospital acts a a teaching hospital and has hosted numerous training veterinarians. Most veterinary students come from Sydney University but some come from Charles Sturt University.

Trainee veterinarians are highly trained but need more practical experience. All their activities are supervised by our veterinary staff.

Veterinary Students are supervised examining animals, placing catheters, giving injections, monitoring anaesthetics and assisting with procedures. They may observe and help with consultations, calculating and making up medication.

As well as practicing their veterinary skills, we like to demonstrate to students how to work in a well run family veterinary hospital. Our history with the Northern Beaches community has resulted being trusted advisers for many families. Treating our clients and patients with kindness and understanding and treating all our workmates with respect is very important at Pittwater Animal Hospital.

Interested students can apply by email with a brief description of who you are and why you would like to come to Pittwater Animal Hospital.

2: Veterinary Nurse Students

As part of training with TAFE NSW we will interview prospective veterinary nursing students. Successful candidates come in for a training day once weekly. These positions are limited but if you are interested in veterinary nurse placement please email.
