Avian Flu Update
We are very saddened by the suspected avian flu case reported near Newcastle and the potential impact this may have on our wild bird populations, especially seabirds.
Following AVA recommendations, we ask clients to be extremely cautious around sick or dead wild birds. Please do not touch, handle, or move wild birds unless absolutely necessary. Keep children, pets, domestic birds, and backyard poultry well away from wild birds and coastal bird areas.
If you find a sick or dead wild bird, please record the location, take a photo if safe to do so, and call the Emergency Animal Disease Hotline on 1800 675 888.
We do not encourage bringing wild birds to the clinic. If a bird has already been contained or there is an urgent welfare concern, please call reception first. Any wild bird must remain outside the clinic, and our team will advise you what to do next.
For clients with pet birds or backyard poultry, our reception team will explain our current appointment process and precautions when you call.
