Little puppy with a swollen face

Little Rosie the four month old boxer puppy presented to PAH with a nasty swelling under her left eye. Her face had swollen up suddenly and was looking very sore. Dr Natalia was so concerned she booked Rosie straight in to have the lump examined under anaesthetic.

Rosie was anaesthetised and Dr Jill incised over the swelling and a large amount of purulent material discharged. This will often indicate that a foreign body is hiding under the skin causing an infection. On deeper examination we struck gold. A GRASS SEED!

If the grass seed had not been found and removed, the swelling would have formed again in a few weeks.

Two weeks later Rosie has healed beautifully and the swelling is gone. Hopefully the scar will fade in the next few months, but even with the scar she does look beautiful.
